Manisha Lad is the Founder & Executive Director of Akhil Autism Foundation, a support group for ASD families operating in the US & India. Despite having a flourishing career in Information Technology, she decided to quit her career in 2001 when her only son was diagnosed with AUTISM. She quickly overcame the initial grief that all parents experience when faced with the difficult road ahead and in 2006, she started her own for-profit online health foods business and made special dietary supplements. In 2008, realizing the need for autism awareness, education and resources globally, she created the non-profit Akhil Autism Foundation. Her mission is to provide parents with autistic children with the best education, support, research, and treatment to allow their child to live an independent life. When parents first receive their child’s diagnosis, they are often unsure of the first step. The Akhil Autism Foundation prepares and guides parents throughout that early phase and strives to help the autistic individuals strengthen their independence.
